The United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries (UMA) invites you to nominate persons from your leadership team for participation in the Class of 2009 Faith-Based Leadership Institute (FBLI) of the Center for Faith-Based Leadership, of which UMA is a governing member. FBLI is a year long program designed to develop key competencies that research has determined are essential for successful leadership of faith-based health and human service organizations. These competencies include:
- Passion for justice
- Spiritual integrity
- Change leadership
- Sense of vocation
- Ethical reflection and action
- Covenant building
- Faith-values foundation
- Organizational skill
The FBLI program is delivered through four learning modules which utilize both face to face and teleconference formats. Each learning model is highly interactive, encouraging peers from a broad spectrum of faith-based health and human service organizations to take responsibility for each other’s learning. Program leadership is composed of a team of highly qualified academicians and successful practitioners.
FBLI has now graduated six classes of faith-based leaders. Evaluations of the program have consistently evidenced an enhanced ability of participants to effectively integrate the faith heritage and values of their ministries into their leadership styles and the fabric of organizational life.We know that participants in FBLI make a significant difference in the life of the ministries they serve.
The deadline for nominations to the Class of 2009 is August 10, 2008 and the class size is limited to 20 persons. After review by the Center Board of Directors, all nominees will be notified by September 10, 2008 as to whether or not they have been approved for the program. Please carefully consider who you would like to nominate today and feel free to contact Mearle Griffith at 937-415-3624 with any questions you may have about the program.
